John has a lifetime experience of arbitration acting as Arbitrator, Advocate (Counsel) and Solicitor in a large number arbitrations (he estimates more than 150) under various domestic and international arbitration rules including ICC, LCIA, Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, CIETAC, HKIAC, SIAC, AFSA, ADCCAC and UNCITRAL

His experience includes:

  • Chairman of UNCITRAL arbitration relating to a petrochemical project in India including 6 substantial awards;
  • Lead Counsel for an arbitration relating to a Railway Project in the Philippines;
  • Lead International Counsel for two arbitrations relating to two geothermic projects in Indonesia;
  • Instructing Solicitor for a Power Project in Indonesia
  • Counsel to the promoter for an arbitration under ICC rules relating to a toll road project in Indonesia
  • Sole arbitrator for a site boundary dispute in London;
  • Party Appointed Arbitrator for disputes under CIETAC rules relating to the sale and purchase of Carbon Credits;
  • Instructing Solicitor for a dispute under ICC rules relating to process plant project in Democratic Republic of the Congo;
  • Counsel for a dispute before SIAC relating to a petrochemical plant in China;
  • Counsel for an Arbitration relating to an airport project in Botswana;
  • Counsel in relation to an ICC arbitration relating to agency disputes in Saudi Arabia;
  • Counsel in an Arbitration in Abu Dhabi relating to a major commercial development;
  • Sole (short form) Arbitrator of disputes in relation to an infrastructure project in London;
  • Strategic Adviser to the President of the contractor in relation to two arbitrations in South Africa;
